About
Friends of Westbrook School Foundation
Founded in 1999, the Friends of Westbrook School Foundation, Inc. (FOWS) is a 501(c)(3) organization that raises funds for school improvements that do not fall within the expenditure guidelines of the Westbrook PTA and are not included in Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) spending plans.
FOWS represents the best of Westbrook, we are committed to the value of public school education and its impact on the quality of life of Westbrook students, teachers families, and the community.
Working with the Westbrook PTA, school leadership, families, neighbors and local businesses, FOWS leadership determines what improvements are of the greatest need to the Westbrook community. Past projects have included: a refresh of the media center, playground shade sails , classroom Promethean boards and a renovation of the playground.
FOWS most recent efforts include a Pandemic Response Campaign and the Westbrook Media Center Refresh. The Pandemic Response campaign raised funds to provide grocery cards and pandemic response supplies to families at Westbrook and our sister school, Viers Mill Elementary. FOWS also supported an exciting update to the Media Center. Guided by Universal Design for Learning (UDL) experts, FOWS helped to create an enhanced and engaging physical space that serves all students at Westbrook.
